Dental Bridges

Don’t worry if you don’t have a full set of teeth, we can often use a Dental Bridge to “bridge” the gap between them. A bridge can be used for one or more teeth.

What are dental bridges?

Dental bridges are false teeth that are attached onto neighbouring teeth in order to replace one or more missing teeth. The false tooth is known as a pontic and is fused between two crowns that serve as anchors, attaching on each side of the false tooth thereby bridging them together.

Do I need a dental bridge?

We would recommend a bridge when there are one or more missing teeth that affect any of the following:

  • Your smile and appearance
  • The shape of your face
  • Your speech
  • The rate of gum disease and tooth decay as a result of food accumulated in the gap
  • Your bite, as a result of adjacent teeth leaning into the empty space and affecting the way the lower and upper jaw meets

Bridges can fix all these issues and are completely natural in appearance and also you will usually just require two appointments at the dentist.

What are bridges made of?

Bridges can be made of porcelain, porcelain bounded to precious metals, or gold.

How long do bridges last?

Dental bridges can last between 10 and 15 years, provided you maintain good dental hygiene.
