Mini Smile Makeovers

A Beautiful Smile – Minimal Intervention – Minimal Cost

In the past the only way to improve the shape, colour and alignment of teeth was to destructively drill away precious natural enamel to make space for porcelain crowns and veneers.

Mini Smile Makeovers with composite bonding

Mini is short for ‘minimally invasive’. New whitening and composite bonding technologies allow us to make profound long-lasting aesthetic improvements to your smile without the tooth removal associated with porcelain crowns and veneers. Our cosmetic dentist has had extra mini smile makeover training.

Whitening First

First your dentist assesses the colour of your teeth. If you want to improve the shade, whiten them first to match your smile makeover to the new colour.

Ask our dentist about our whitening treatment. It guarantees long lasting results with simple at home maintenance.

How long do the effects last?

Teeth whitening can last years, depending on how well you look after your teeth. Smoking and drinking, for example, can create staining and discolouration and reduces the effectiveness of the whitening.

What is possible with composite bonding?

Improvements can be done to single teeth or a couple of adjacent teeth to close gaps, or to the whole smile. The dentist will usually take impressions and/or a digital scan to assess your teeth before suggesting possible improvements. They may even quickly ‘mock-up’ the improvement in your mouth to give you an idea of what is possible.

What are the advantages?

The most important advantage is the preservation of natural tooth. The process of composite bonding is much less destructive; often there is no drilling at all.

Mini smile makeovers also tend to cost less, as there is no need for expensive laboratory porcelain work.

What are the disadvantages?

Composite bonding is slightly more prone to chipping and staining than porcelain restorations (which also stain and chip). However, your dentist or hygienist can polish the restorations at regular check-ups without affecting your natural teeth.

You should expect results to last for 2-5 years without major replacement. With proper care and maintenance, they could last much longer. Your dentist can give you an accurate estimate based on your situation.

In some instances, minimal smile makeovers are not possible, when teeth are severely broken down, for instance.

How much does it cost?

Mini smile makeovers cost significantly less than traditional crowns and veneers.

The cost varies considerably depending on the number and complexity of teeth involved. Prices start from £250 per tooth. Your dentist will give you a breakdown including the cost of whitening and their expected maintenance regime.
